Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Generalist

C.H.I.L.D. Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to providing high-quality Head Start early childcare services. Our team of approximately 100 employees works to ensure that children and families receive the support and education they need to thrive. We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented HR Generalist to establish and manage our human resources functions, supporting our mission and organizational goals.

Position Overview:

As the HR Generalist , you will be responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, overseeing recruitment of staff and onboarding, and ensuring compliance with federal and state employment regulations. This is a newly created position, and you will play a key role in shaping HR practices to support our growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer HR policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with organizational goals.
  • Assist in full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Oversee onboarding and assist in orientation processes for new employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and benefits administration.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, licensing requirements, and Head Start program regulations.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Support training and professional development initiatives.
  • Assist leadership with HR-related decision-making and workforce planning.
  • Acts as agency’s Equal opportunity Officer.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or early childcare setting.  Experience in grant management preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, HR compliance, and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience with HR software and payroll systems preferred.  Experience with Paylocity software a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
