CHILD, Inc.’s curriculum framework is most closely associated with that of the Creative Curriculum. First and foremost, parents are recognized as their child’s primary teacher. A close partnership is developed between parents and teachers. This partnership helps ensure that the program addresses the needs of each individual child and that learning and growth will be supported both at home and at school.
The curriculum supports the philosophy that children learn by doing. A carefully organized and rich classroom environment serves as the foundation for the curriculum. The environment invites children to observe, make choices, and experiment. Each environment is unique in that it captures the interests of children involved.
An individual development plan is jointly created by parents and teachers, based on the following goal areas:
- Fine motor
- Gross motor
- Communication
- Problem solving
- Personal / social
Information from teacher observations, along with parental input, sets the stage for individual goal development, which in turn drives the curriculum.
