Philosophy

CHILD, Inc.’s programs are based on the philosophy that parents are the primary nurturers, educators and advocated of their children. We believe that it is necessary for program staff and parents to work closely together to develop individualized plans for each child in order to ensure their successful growth and development.

CHILD, Inc.’s early childhood curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best by doing. Since young children “learn through play,” they need opportunities to handle materials, experiment, explore, interact with others, think and participate. Children use all of their senses (touch, taste, hearing, smell, and sight) as they explore and learn about their world. Our goal is to nuture children’s physical, social, emotional, language, intellectual development, and to help them become enthusiastic, self-confident, independent learners.

CHILD, Inc.’s philosophy is that young children need many opportunities to make choices, direct their own learning, and feel successful. Children need to develop problem-solving and decision-making skills, and learn how to get along well with others. They need to develop self-control and independence, and to feel valued and accepted by the people who are most important to them. CHILD, Inc. recognizes that a healthy self-concept is critical for learning to take place. Our staff is committed to doing whatever is necessary to help children become socially and emotionally competent and to develop a healthy, positive self-concept.
